GET IN TOUCH

Cleaning digital signage is important to enhance its durability and visibility. Dust and dirt buildup can wreak havoc on digital components and screen displays.

Not only that, a dirty sign — whether it’s a simple smudged screen, or a broken bulb, or a full-on malfunctioning display — makes your business look bad and keeps people from knowing who you are, what you do, and, most importantly, what message you’re trying to convey.

Cleaning is important, but it’s equally important to ensure you are doing it right. — and that you’re working with your signage provider. So, regardless of what type of digital signage you have, you must maintain it well. Digital signage maintenance includes regular cleaning, replacements, and repairs.

Here’s how to make cleaning digital signage a breeze.

How Digital Signage Is Affected by Weather

Digital signs typically comprise LCD and LED screens that are not cost-friendly and can easily get damaged by dust, fog, wind, and rain. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance to install LCD and LED enclosures to protect your digital signboards from external weather elements.

Fog can also reduce the brightness and visibility of your digital signs, ultimately diminishing their functionality and performance. Moisture from fog can also lead to corrosion, oxidation, and reduction. Environmental dirt and dust can get accumulated in different elements of the signage and cause them to overheat and malfunction. Therefore, if you have not installed LCD and LED enclosures yet, ensure you clean the signs regularly to maintain their quality.

The Importance of Cleaning Digital Signage

Digital signage should be regularly dusted with air or wiped to remove unwanted debris. Dirt, dust, and grime can damage copper connections, interfere with other sensitive equipment, and reduce the light quality. Keeping your digital signage clean is necessary for your image too. 68% of customers say that a business’ digital signage reflects the quality of its products and services.

How to Clean Exterior Digital Signage

You should also do a more thorough cleaning once every month, after unplugging the cables and removing equipment used to keep the digital signage functional. We strongly urge you to hire a professional for a thorough cleaning of your digital signage. It is easy to dismantle the cables and related equipment, but difficult to install them once the cleaning is done.

Begin by cleaning the signboard from top to bottom using a high-power wash to loosen up the accumulated dirt and dust. Ensure you maintain a distance of one foot from the signboard and use a nozzle spray comprising a circular spray setting. However, avoid using high-power washes that have more than 200 PSI pressure and less than 180-degree water temperature. If the exterior signs are small and portable, you can hand wash them using a mild detergent and microfiber cloth. Once you have cleaned the signage thoroughly, allow it to dry on its own.

Remove Debris and Dust With Compressed Air

If you are finding it difficult to remove debris and dust from narrow areas, use compressed air. Upon spraying compressed air, the debris and dust can land on the surface of the signboard. As already mentioned above, you can use a microfiber cloth to wipe off the debris and dust from the digital signage’s surface.
